Salvation

To be saved — to be made whole — is to surrender fully to God, embracing His plan and calling for our lives. It’s a turning away from our old ways and a turning toward Jesus. In Him, we receive forgiveness for our sins and are given a brand new life. Salvation isn’t just about a moment; it’s about transformation — stepping into the freedom, purpose, and hope that only Jesus can give.

Romans 10:9 (NIV)

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Luke 9:23–24 (NIV)

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”

Acts 3:19 (NIV)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

Titus 3:5 (NIV)

“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Baptism

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It tells the story of your faith in Jesus Christ and what He has done in your life. We baptize by immersion because we believe this best reflects the example set by Jesus and the meaning behind baptism as shown in Scripture. At Good News Church, we believe baptism symbolizes:

New Life in Christ

Going under the water represents dying to your old life without Christ. Coming up out of the water shows that you’ve been raised to new life through Him.

Cleansing from Sin

Baptism symbolizes being washed clean—your sins forgiven through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

Unity with Jesus

It’s a way of identifying with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Obedience to Christ

Jesus instructed His followers to be baptized. While baptism isn't required for salvation, it is a step of obedience and a public declaration of your faith.
